Web clips for 1/31/10 iPad™ Edition!!!!!

Meet the iPad™. It's a magical and revolutionary device. Magical....really? is it really magical?

It's certainly popular.

Everything is certainly abuzz. Even Pee-Wee's got one. MadTV predicted it.

But it's probably not magical. Yea, not magical. What I notice is that it's priced at $500 for the base model, with just 16GB of storage. The 64GB model brings it up to $700. You can buy 2 fairly powerful netbooks for that price. And at least they'll have USB, Flash, and a 160GB hard drive.

And no flash. Looks like Apple hurt Adobe's feelings. To the extent that they supposedly "played the porn card." Though that turned out to be just an employee making a joke.

It seems it's a bit like Obama.

People certainly have great expectations for it. They say it's going to kill the Kindle. The accessory market is gonna explode. Google had better watch out. It'll jump-start the job market. And it's even going to change the way kids grow up. Really. it's just that cool. I hear it'll also give you a blowjob if you buy the app.

But seriously people, where are our priorities?

With all of this controversy flying around, I'm reminded of just one thing.

Play God with Earth Editor!

Everyone's wanted to play god, right? Well, now you can with Earth Editor!
Earth Editor is another simulation toy from Dan-Ball.jp, the website of this one gifted Japanese Java programmer, full of fun toys and games. The most popular being probably the powder game.
Earth Editor is simply delightful. It's a lot like the powder game, except there is a gravitational pull in the center of the screen, making it easy to create worlds. You can also create other gravitational pulls and repels. There's a few elements from the powder game that you can use to create a world, and a "meteor" element, that gravitate toward the world, and explodes on impact. I'm probably not a good judge of this, as I'm pretty easily amused, But I've spent hours creating and destroying worlds, creating moons, seeing how many worlds I can create in the space at once. It's a load of fun. Really, just check it out. Earth Editor.

Yea yea, I've missed a few days. I have a good excuse though, I was playing video games. Maybe I'll be doing a review or so soon. And here's a few extra clips for the lateness.

Anyway, get better headphones (also, in the $100 range, I'm a fan of the Allesandro MS-1s and the Audio-Technica ATH-AD700s).

Another quote site, this one's got a great interface that makes it easy to browse.

A cool, cheap-yet-powerful game engine.

Left 4 Dead, in java.

And Stickman Exodus, episode 1.

Mind, prepare to be boggled.

Time Waster: End Tyranny With Ultimate Crab Battle!

Sharks and lasers are always a good combination, right? What about a shark that you can ride, shoots lasers from it's eyes, and launches torpedo's? Sounds pretty damn formidable right? Not if you're facing a GIANT crab that can summon an army of swordfish, blast sound, electrocute everything, shoot killer eels out of its claws, shoot lasers out of a giant eye, summon a giant dude with a machine gun, shoot energy beams from a giant pearl, drain all of the water around you, and do it all while wearing a crown.
Ultimate Crab Battle is a huge, rediculously simple boss battle, where you ride around on your shark, trying to destroy this big-ass crab while it throws every crazy atttack at you that it can. The difficulty (and believe me, it's pretty difficult) comes in the sheer number of insanely powerful things the crab can do to attack you. The controls are really simple: arrow keys to move around, and "A" to attack. That's it. So the whole game you're constantly unloading with lasers, blasters, torpedoes, and missiles while trying to avoid getting hit by any of the crabs attacks. Your health bar is normal sized, the crab's health bar is CHRIST WHY WONT THIS THING JUST FUCKING DIE!!!!!!!!111!ONEEONEONE
It's really epic. And really fun. And pretty hilarious. And thoroughly awesome. Definitely a great way to waste time while you're waiting for sacrifice to download.

That's right, my web clips are daily now - well, as daily as I can make them. There will be less clips in each post, but hey, they're daily. Anyway, this is really, really fun to play with. Make your own full featured cardboard laptop case. Beat shit up in slo-mo. And how Apple controls your mind.

Geeky/Random Web Clippings

Apparently post frequency is the new theme here at The Tartar Sauce. Either that, or I've finally become bored with playing video games 24/7, yet still have nothing to do but update a blog. Anyway, here's some random shit from these here internets:

ZeFrank's Gyro.

Draw online, and share it with others.

Some clever advertising.

stomp-esque web short.

Midomi, a music search engine that lets you sing, hum, or tap the tune to find the music.

Screamin' Beans, if you click one thing here, click this.

Remember when the Zune was a big joke?

And finally, for Pat, a random Alias Generator.

Time Waster: Ski Down Mt. Infinity With Ski Runner!

Yea, I've been feeling pretty nostalgic about my old, dead blog lately, and decided to bring back the Time Waster segment, which is essentially a flash game highlight.

Anyway, Ski Runner is the most fun I've had in the browser for a while. You are Mr. Ski Man, and must ride down Mt. Infinity, using the arrow keys to steer and collecting pills to score points and keep your energy up.

That's basically it. Or is it? If your energy bar goes above the halfway point, you'll begin to hallucinate, and that's when the trees start dancing, rocks turn into easter island heads, random words flash on the screen, robots appear, colors flash all around, and various memes visit from all over the internet. Oh, did I mention all of this while great hardcore techno plays in the background? It's pretty sweet. And actually kind of difficult, since you'll inevitably get distracted by a dancing banana or three, and slam into a rock.

A really simple, hilarious, and addictingly fun game.
